Your first trade
Five steps. One real trade on Base.
1. What you need
A wallet, USDC on Base and a little ETH on Base for gas.
Details: what you need
- A wallet that works on Base. On a phone, open this site in your wallet app’s browser.
- USDC on Base, or the market’s wrapped stock.
- Each step usually costs a cent or less of that ETH.
2. Get funds on Base
- From Coinbase or an exchange: withdraw USDC, network Base.
- On another chain: bridge to Base →
Details: getting funds
The trade ticket links the bridge with your wallet and amount filled in. Need ETH for gas? Withdraw or bridge a little the same way.
3. Make the trade
Open a market, pick YES or NO, type dollars, connect and press the button.
Details: what your wallet asks
Press the ticket’s button once per step. Your wallet asks you to confirm:
- paying with USDC: an approval and a swap into the stock;
- an approval to the exchange, up to your balance;
- a signature for the order: free, no gas;
- a second signature if part of it waits for a seller.
Your shares show under Your position on the market page; an order still waiting is under Open orders.
4. What you’re buying
YES pays one share of the stock if it happens. NO pays it otherwise.
Details: what you’re buying
The other leg pays nothing. Every price here comes from our own market maker, quoting at Polymarket’s odds, not from outside traders yet. How it works
5. If a step fails
Your funds stay in your wallet: try again. A waiting order cancels any time under Open orders.
